I was watching the news when it happened, i remember exactly where i was and what i was doing. I hit my knees when the second plane hit while we watched. At that point we all knew.

I will never forget that day. Watching this brought back so many memories for me. It was an extremely emotional day for so many people especially the families of the victims. My best friend lost his brother in the attacks. The people jumping from the tower and you could hear and see it on the live footage… It was so unreal 🥺

I was 14, I watched in shock alone in my living room (they let us out of school early) My mom was 2000 miles away about to get on a flight. I didn't know her flight number, or if she was grounded, or if she was in the planes that hit for 3 DAYS when we finally got in contact with each other. It took 3 MORE days, for her to get a flight home. I'll never forget MAKING myself look at the people dying in front of our eyes, just so they were SEEN. I hope I never have to witness those horrors again. Ill never forget.

I still remember this day. My dad was a firefighter for 30 years. There's a video, not shown here, after the towers collapse where there is this high-pitched whistle, and someone (maybe the reporter) asks, "What is that?" My dad knew. Firefighters have a motion alarm on their suits. If one of them passes out to smoke inhalation and doesn't move for a certain amount of time, his motion detector will go off so his fellow firefighters can find him and drag him out. That whistle was the motion detectors of all the dead firefighters after the building collapsed on them.

Reliving this day and the days that followed again has gotten harder and harder because of our decline. Remembering the feeling of “yeah let’s go get them” and then Afghanistan fell. Everything else going on in the world. So much negativity in the world today, because of 9/11

Over 300 people on my community never came home that night. I felt very sick when it happened. I still have not gotten on an airplane since it happened.

I will never forget that morning. I was 17. I didn't have to be at school until 2nd hour, so it happened as i was getting dressed. When i got to class i begged the teacher to put the news on and we watched the towers fall. It was the the scariest day of my life up to that point, and now at 40 it's still one of the most traumatic of my life. We didn't know what was happening, and even about a thousand miles away, we were watching the sky and helicopters, wondering if our little part of the country might be next.

13:39 One of the things that enrage me, is that many of the first responders, after being between debris, smoke, pulverized glass, etc., developed lots of illnesses and a fund was created to help treating them, but Republicans made that fund temporary and made these people go sick and dying to congress to ask for it's extension multiple times, because they used it mainly to blackmail congress approve tax cuts for wealthy and corporations, or reductions on social spending to approve the extension of the fund. Joh Stewart, is his least funny and most serious bit, went to congress with the survivors of these first responders to bring public attention to the despicable pettiness of Republicans and finally made the fund permanent, while the first responders continue fighting these illnesses they will have support, but for years they were used as a trading chip for political gain. I still remember Moscow Mitch (and I'm sorry if you don't agree with this categorization, but I can't think of an American not having as his first instinct to help these people) responding to Jon Stewart "I don't know what you are so upset about, the funds will be approved eventually", as if making the survivors of the first responders go to beg to congress, in wheel chairs, some of them with oxygen tanks some of them suffering from cancer, just because while these politicians cowered in their bunkers, these brave men and women went in to help where they could was just politics as usual, or a protest during a picnic.

I remember this day. I was in basic in the Army when this happened. Specifically at the 240B range (type of machine gun). One of the Drills Sgt said the twin towers were bombed. None of us believed him. When we got to the barracks our Drill Sgt walked quietly into his office and turned the TV on and turned up the volume so we could hear it. 50ish guys huddled up next to the kill zone (area of the barracks we were not allowed to go into) listening to the news. We couldn't believe it.
